Our intuition is the first thing to kick in when we are faced with a decision, and of course, we all know the golden rule “if something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t.” But of course, we are more likely to ignore that feeling and continue on only to realize a little too late that our unsettling feeling was right. But why is that? Well, it all comes down to trusting ourselves.
There are so many things that get in the way of trusting ourselves such as other people’s opinions, second-guessing our own knowledge base, ignoring our feelings, and so on. It’s important, regardless of the reason, to trust ourselves and make sure our intuition plays into our decision-making process.
Of course, sometimes our intuition fails us and we shouldn’t always go with our first instincts. So this begs the question, how do we trust our intuition?
Let’s watch this week’s Carolyn Talks video in which I provide three quick tips on how to trust your intuition. You can also read about how trusting my intuition helped my self-awareness and decision-making skills in Trust the Process.

Blooper: We don’t know what we don’t know. Is that wrong? Wait. I’m confused. I’m so confused. Stop it. You’re not helping me. You’re going to use this as a blooper, I know it.
Hey, it’s Carolyn Stern and you’re watching Carolyn talks, the channel to watch if you want to get unstuck, maximize your potential and achieve more. Have you ever done something when you knew you really shouldn’t have? Do you listen to that inner voice in your head? If not, why not? This show is all about empowering you to be the best version of yourself, and for me, not trusting your intuition is not trusting yourself. Your intuition is your inner voice, your inner wisdom that comes from your experience in life, what you value, et cetera. You really need to learn to trust who you are and respect what you think.
Intuition is about knowing something directly without analytical reasoning. Here are some ways to tap into your intuition.
Number one:
Journal. So many things are going on in our day-to-day that sometimes it’s hard to get away from that and focus on ourselves, so I like to journal and I write down my thoughts and feelings in a quiet place.
Number two:
Express your feelings even if it’s not popular. When you don’t do that, you’re censoring yourself because you’re worried about what other people think. Trust who you are and respect what you know.
Number three:
Step outside the situation. Sometimes we’re so immersed in what’s going on that we’re not listening to our inner voice. Stepping outside gives you that time and space to listen.
There you have it. Three tips to trust your intuition.
One, journal. Two, express your feelings even when they are not popular, and three, step out of the situation.
I have one more thing to say. Forgive your intuition when it’s wrong. Nobody’s perfect and neither is your intuition.
Now, I’d like to hear from you. What’s one thing that you do to tap into your intuition?
Sometimes the best discussions happen after the episode so please leave a comment, and if you need a little extra inspiration check out this golden nugget and I’ll see you at the next Carolyn Talks.
